cortex | brand + process
the goal in creating cortex was to make a self-help lifestyle brand that was more appealing to a younger generation, while still being easily accessible across a wide range of audiences. this stemmed from my realization that cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt) and design thinking share many of the same principles, and processes. The products include an affirmation calendar with cbt-based activities, a “mindfulness puzzle” (which is made up of the brand’s main “mindfulness graphic”), candles that help recall certain emotions via aromatherapy (a popular facet of cbt is that many of its exercises employ the senses to instill mindfulness); a mindfulness coloring book, posters, and t-shirts.
